Greg Weeks is an American singer-songwriter, recording engineer, and producer, born and raised in New York, currently living in the pastoral Pennsylvania countryside outside Philadelphia. He has been writing and releasing music since 1996. Initially influenced by the likes of Nick Drake and Leonard Cohen, Weeks’ bedroom folk transformed to include psychedelic, electronic, chamber-folk, and progressive rock elements. These changes led to the release of Awake Like Sleep, an album that featured Weeks’ most widely recognized and licensed song, “Made” (most notably featured in artist Charlie White’s installment of the Adidas Adicolor campaign, “Pink,” and the season three finale of the television show Weeds.
In addition to his solo efforts, Weeks co-founded the psychedelic folk outfit Espers, who have released four albums and are currently working on their fifth. Weeks’ song “Children of Stone” was covered by Marianne Faithful on her solo album Easy Come, Easy Go.
In 2006, Weeks organized and produced The Valerie Project, a major work wherein the ensemble re-imagined the score to classic Czech New Wave film Valerie and her Week of Wonders. A track from the score was subsequently featured on Dancing with the Stars.
Currently, Weeks is one fifth of an experimental psychedelic rock band, Grass, has reformed his analog recording studio Hexham Head, and is working on material for Espers and a new solo record.
